NormandyTours
Join us on our 6-day American Normandy Tour designed for people who want to combine culture and military history on their vacation in Normandy before or after the high season. It gives you an opportunity to study the American operations during D-Day and to pay your respects to the Greatest Generation. From the landings on the beaches to the breakout from Normandy, you will explore exemplary cases of heroism and self-sacrifice of American soldiers shown on the battlefields of Normandy. This trip has a special focus on the American landing sectors and the respective German fortifications of the Atlantic Wall with our journey ending at the stunning medieval monastery on the tidal island of Mont-Saint-Michel.
Passengers are greeted at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris and transferred by coach to Normandy. After an orientation dinner to get to know your fellow travelers, we spend the next few days exploring the iconic locations of the Normandy Landings including also the airborne and the naval operations meant to break the fierce German resistance and to prevent them from sending reinforcements to the beaches. We will concentrate on the American landing beaches Utah and Omaha, as well as several profound sites inland where we honor the heroes who fought to secure a foothold in Europe and changed history eventually by defeating the Third Reich.
In the final segment of the tour, we will follow the breakout of General Patton’s Third Army from Normandy to Brittany via driving through the city of Avranches and crossing the famous Pontaubault bridge that was left intact despite the numerous attacks by the retreating German forces. The tour culminates in a visit to the world-famous island abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel. We conclude our journey with a farewell dinner. The next day, our Passengers are brought to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris for their return flights.
